In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto by Michael Pollan
Oh wow. Talk about earthshaking. I’m not even sure where to start here, but I’m pretty sure this will change how I buy, cook, and consume food. All food. The whole tome is gold, but inevitably the best part is the solution section, a step-by-step guide on modulating diet without going completely insane. Trent at Simple Dollar did a whole chapter-by-chapter rundown, too, if you’d like to learn more before hitting the library.

The Onion’s parody news pieces are generally hilarious, and this one is no less scathingly on-point. Especially note the masterful performance of my friend D, who plays Feedbag Diner Jason Womak. Never have tacos matched a goatee so completely.
